Terms of Service

Clients: Must be 18 years or older. Must provide accurate personal information during registration.

Advocates: Must hold a valid Certificate of Practice issued by the Bar Council of India. Must submit Bar Council ID, Certificate of Practice, and Government ID for verification. Must be currently enrolled with a State Bar Council. NyaySetu is currently accepting advocates based in Uttarakhand only.

Request & quote. Posting a request is free. NyaySetu reviews it and sends you one quote on behalf of a verified advocate: the advocate's fee and NyaySetu's service fee, shown as two separate lines. You pay only if you accept.

Managed request & milestones. Once you accept and pay, your request becomes a Managed Request. NyaySetu posts status milestones (e.g. documents received, drafting, sent/filed) as the work progresses; you're notified at each step and can see the full history on your request page.

Delivery & review. When the work is delivered, check it and confirm, or tell us within 48 hours if something isn't right. After 48 hours with no response, the work is treated as accepted and the request is closed as complete. This is the only fixed time window on the site that binds you — we don't promise delivery dates, since courts, filings and third parties are outside our control.

Refunds. If a request can't be completed, is cancelled, or isn't delivered as agreed, see our Refund Policy.

High-priority matters. Some matters (e.g. bail, FIR-related matters, divorce, custody, maintenance, accident claims) are flagged high-priority. For these, NyaySetu does not charge a fee and there is no online payment — we connect you directly with an advocate, and any fee is agreed between you and the advocate.

DocDraft. NyaySetu offers AI-assisted document drafts (DocDraft) for certain document types. Drafts are generated by AI from a template and the information you provide. Every draft, on screen and on each page of the download, is labelled as AI-generated and not checked by an advocate, and tells you to verify every detail before you use, sign or send it. Drafts are not legal advice. You can separately request an advocate to review a draft as a Managed Request.

Help assistant. The assistant on our Help page uses AI to understand your problem and suggest a service. Its answers can be wrong and are not legal advice — it only points you to the right place.

Advocate photos. Advocate photographs are not shown publicly, in line with Bar Council of India rules. Once an advocate is assigned to your request, their photo appears on your own request page only.

Notifications. We notify you of request updates by WhatsApp, SMS and email, depending on what's available for your account.

No open bidding. Advocates do not browse or bid on open requests. Every quote comes from NyaySetu on an advocate's behalf, or from an advocate you've chosen directly from their profile.

You pay the advocate fee and NyaySetu's service fee together, when you accept a quote. Delivered work is treated as accepted once you confirm it, or automatically 48 hours after delivery if you haven't raised a problem.

NyaySetu's service fee is shown as a separate line from the advocate's fee on every quote, request page and receipt, before you pay.

Disputes: If delivered work isn't what was agreed, tell us before you confirm it — within 48 hours of delivery. We review it with the advocate; outcomes are decided case by case (corrected, redone, or refunded) — see our Refund Policy.

Advocates on NyaySetu agree to:

• Provide an accurate quote for work they take on.

• Keep NyaySetu's team informed so status milestones can be posted for the client.

• Deliver the agreed work, or hand it back to NyaySetu promptly if they can't.

• Provide accurate, professional, and ethical legal guidance.

• Maintain confidentiality of all client communications.

• Not solicit clients for off-platform work.

• Keep their profile information and documents up to date.

Failure to meet these obligations may result in account suspension or termination.

Clients on NyaySetu agree to:

• Provide truthful and complete information about their legal issue.

• Not use abusive, threatening, or inappropriate language.

• Not record or share the content of a request without the advocate's consent.

• Understand that guidance provided is not a substitute for formal legal representation.

• Not use the platform for illegal purposes or to seek assistance with illegal activities.

Not Legal Representation: Requests fulfilled through NyaySetu are carried out by independent advocates. An advocate-client relationship, where one arises, is between you and the advocate — not NyaySetu.

No Guarantee of Outcome: NyaySetu and its advocates do not guarantee any specific legal outcome. The guidance provided is based on the information shared by the client.

Verification Limitation: While NyaySetu verifies advocate credentials, we are not responsible for the quality or accuracy of legal advice provided by individual advocates.

The NyaySetu name, logo, interface, and platform code are the property of NyaySetu. Users may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

Content submitted by users (queries, messages, documents) remains owned by the respective user. By submitting content, you grant NyaySetu a limited license to store and transmit it for the sole purpose of delivering the service you requested.

Development Tools: NyaySetu Law is built with the assistance of AI development tools, including Claude by Anthropic. This is about building the platform, not about legal advice.

Where AI is used on NyaySetu:

• DocDraft — AI-assisted document drafts for certain templates, generated from the information you provide. Every draft and download is labelled as AI-generated and not checked by an advocate, with a reminder to verify every detail before use, and is not legal advice.

• Help assistant — our Help page uses AI to understand your problem and suggest a service. It does not give legal advice.

• Advocate case checklists — advocates may use an AI-drafted checklist as a starting point for their own case organisation. The advocate decides what to use. This does not change the legal work a client receives.

Legal advice and legal work only from advocates: All legal advice and legal work on requests is delivered exclusively by independent advocates enrolled with the Bar Council of India or a relevant State Bar Council. No AI feature on NyaySetu gives legal advice, and none decides the outcome of your matter.

Not a Law Firm: NyaySetu Law is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and NyaySetu Law. Any attorney-client relationship is solely between you and the advocate you engage with through our platform.

Request details, documents you share, and delivery files are stored securely for service delivery and dispute resolution. They are accessible only to you, your assigned advocate, and NyaySetu administrators.

Personal information is used solely for platform operations and is not shared with third parties except as required by law.

NyaySetu reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, engages in fraudulent activity, or receives multiple complaints.

Users may delete their account at any time by contacting support. Active requests must be completed or resolved before account deletion.

In compliance with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, NyaySetu has appointed a Grievance Officer to address user complaints regarding advocate conduct, platform services, content, or any violation of these terms.

Resolution timeline: Acknowledgement within 24 hours, resolution within 15 days. Content takedown requests acted on within 72 hours as required by IT Rules 2021.

Grievances relating to Bar Council of India disciplinary matters may additionally be forwarded to the relevant State Bar Council.
